The Peace We Want – The Road Ahead After Four Workshops

„The Future We Want, the United Nations We Need“, so lautet das Motto der Kampagne der Vereinten Nationen zum 75-jährigen Bestehen, an der sich auch die DGVN mit diversen Formaten beteiligt. Angelehnt an dieses Motto haben wir am 26. Juni 2020 mit einer digitalen Auftaktveranstaltung den Startschuss für eine Reihe von digitalen Workshops gegeben, die im September und Oktober das Thema Frieden unter diversen Blickwinkeln untersucht haben. In diesen Workshops zu den Themen neue Akteure, Digitalisierung, Klimawandel sowie Gerechtigkeit diskutieren wir, wie die Vereinten Nationen sich neuen Herausforderungen stellen können, um ihrem Anspruch als globales Friedensprojekt auch in Zukunft gerecht zu werden.

Im Zuge dieses Abschlussworkshops berichten die Rapporteurinnen und Rapporteure über die diskutierten Fragen: Wie trägt Digitalisierung zu einer friedlichen Welt bei, wie hängen Frieden und Klimawandel zusammen, welche Rolle spielt Gerechtigkeit für Frieden und was können neue Akteure in den Vereinten Nationen beitragen? Außerdem haben wir wieder interessante Gäste mit dabei und diskutieren mit Aleksandra Dier und Staffan de Mistura! Der Workshop findet am 30. Oktober 2020 von 15:15 bis 16:30 Uhr statt, und Sie sind herzlich eingeladen, sich daran zu beteiligen.

Anmeldungen sind über das Onlineformular möglich. Ausgewählte Teilnehmerinnen und Teilnehmer können sich außerdem beim offenen Forum mit Wortbeiträgen zum Thema Frieden einbringen. Dafür bitten wir, im Anmeldeformular auch die Rubrik „Mein Statement/Meine Idee“ auszufüllen und Ihre Ideen stichwortartig zu skizzieren. Das Statement könnte auf Fragen eingehen wie: Wo stehen wir? Was muss passieren? Worauf müssen wir bei achten? Welche Möglichkeiten haben die Vereinten Nationen und andere Akteure, Frieden zu fördern?

Nach der Registrierung übermitteln wir allen angemeldeten Teilnehmerinnen und Teilnehmern die ZOOM-Einwahldaten per E-Mail. Bitte sehen Sie gegebenenfalls auch im Spam-Ordner nach. Die Veranstaltung findet in deutscher und englischer Sprache statt und wird gedolmetscht.

The final workshop of the series “The Peace We Want” will bring together the discussions of the past weeks: we discussed how peace correlates with digitalization, climate change and justice and which role new actors play within these subject areas. The event is available in German and English.

“The Future We Want, the United Nations We Need” is the theme of the campaign that the UN hosts on the occasion of their 75th anniversary. The DGVN participates in this campaign with diverse formats. Inspired by this theme we started our series of online workshops with a digital opening event on June 26. The series examined peace out of different perspectives and within the workshops on new actors, digitalization, climate change and justice we discussed how the UN could cope with new challenges in order to meet the requirements as a global peace project in the future.  

In the course of this closing workshop the rapporteurs will present the discussed questions: What can digitalization contribute to a more peaceful world, what is the correlation between climate change and peace, what is the role of justice in relation to peace and what can the actors of the UN achieve? Again we will have interesting guests on bord: Aleksandra Dier and Staffan de Mistura! The workshop will take place on October 30 from 3:15 pm to 4:30 pm and you are very welcome to participate.

Registrations are possible via online form. Selected participants can also get involved in the Open Forum with contributions on the topic of Peace. To do so, we ask you to fill out the section “My statement/My idea” in the registration form and to outline your ideas and questions in keywords. Your input could address questions like: Where do we stand? What must happen? What do we have to pay attention to in terms of prevention? What possibilities do the United Nations have to promote peace?

After registration we will send the ZOOM dial-in data to all registered participants by e-mail. Please also check your spam folder. The event will take place in German and English and interpretation will be provided.
